A little sensitivity training is in order for the moron at ESPN.com who came up with a poll question that someone with half a brain should have red-flagged.
The question, posted Friday and dealing with the recent success of Boston-area sports franchises, asked whether voters would rather see the Patriots lose to the Steelers, Johan Santana be traded to a team other than the Red Sox or Kevin Garnett blow out his knee.
Garnett blow out his knee? That's more than a bit crass, don't you think?
And what was the player's reaction? “Wow, that’s really distasteful, man," Garnett told The Boston Herald.
After getting an earful from the team and who knows who else, ESPN.com issued this statement:
“Friday’s ESPN.com Page 2 poll used very poor judgment in its option about Kevin Garnett. The poll was removed immediately upon the senior editorial staff becoming aware, and we sincerely regret the error in judgment. We are addressing the issue and apologize to Kevin Garnett, to the Celtics organization and to those offended by the poll question. Obviously, we wish good health to all athletes.”
Nice going guys.
