FedEx Super Bowl spot tops

Images3_3 Congratulations to the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Their unrelenting defensive pressure, the winning touchdown drive engineered by MVP Eli Manning and that amazing clutch catch by David Tyree made this game one for the ages. Credit Fox with a solid telecast; Joe Buck and Troy Aikman were excellent. Now we can't wait to see what NFL Films comes up with.

It was a better-than-average year for Super Bowl commercials. Here are the Spud's top picks:

1. FedEx (second quarter): The funniest ad of the night featured a young executive who believes he's come up with the optimum solution for delivering packages — giant helmeted carrier pigeons. Unfortunately, like a '50s sci-fi flick, things go awry with the big birds and all hell breaks loose. I've watched this spot four times and it still cracks me up.

2. Budweiser/Bud Light (second quarter) (tie): With seven Super Bowl spots you had to figure Anheuser-Busch would come up with at least a couple of winners. The best were the "Rocky"-themed Budweiser commercial culminating with "Hal" the Clydesdale making the first team and high-fiving his Dalmatian trainer; and the Bud Light ad in which comedian Carlos Mencia teaches foreigners how to pick up women in a bar.

3. Go Daddy (second quarter): How many guys (maybe even some gals) do you think scurried to their computers to watch Danica Patrick dress down at GoDaddy.com? I bet quite a few. Quite creative.

4. Audi (first quarter): Kudos for the inspired casting of character actor Alex Rocco in the grill-in-the-bed take-off of "The Godfather's" horse's-head scene. Though it was the late John Marley who got spooked in the film, "Godfather" fans will remember Rocco as ill-fated mobster Moe Green.

5. E*Trade (third and fourth quarters): Yeah, I know, the talking baby thing has been done plenty, but listening to an infant talk about trading stock was still amusing.

I dug the talking baby, the Coke parade one and that weird Panda one.

Could have done without Go Daddy, Wall-e and Jackie Moon.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

As an Aussie that only gets the rather painful experience of only getting game(and not understanding one minute of it) we miss out on the ads. Seriously the best part of it...

Am going to get you one of these.
