NFL unveils primetime openers
The Indianapolis Colts will christen the new $700 million Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 7 in a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears on NBC's first "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the upcoming NFL season.
Also on the opening weekend schedule is a primetime "Monday Night Football" doubleheader on ESPN. The first game pits the Green Bay Packers (sans Brett Favre) against the Minnesota Vikings, followed by the Denver Broncos in Oakland to play the Raiders.
Previously announced was the Sept. 4 season opener featuring the New York Giants and Washington Redskins. The game will start at 7 p.m. ET so as not to conflict with presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Denver.
