Tim Russert, 1950-2008
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues of the consummate sports couch potato, Tim Russert.
The Washington bureau chief of NBC News and moderator of "Meet the Press' died Friday of a heart attack. He was 58.
Family was his first love and politics a close second, but not far behind was his passion for sports — especially his beloved hometown Buffalo Bills. And as his colleagues related throughout the day Friday, taking in a baseball game at Nationals Park or Camden Yards was always a thrill for Russert, whose son Luke co-hosts a sports-talk program with James Carville on XM Satellite Radio.
A big void has been created this political season by the loss of Tim Russert. It won't be filled.
